Homemade Salted Caramel Coffee

A few days ago I shared the recipe for Delicious Coconut Salted Caramel.

Delicious Coconut Salted Caramel
This caramel is sweet, salty, sticky, and with a hint of toasted coconut flavor.

Liquid gold!

It tastes phenomenal with cakes, ice creams, cupcakes, oatmeals, chia puddings, pies, well almost everything! To give you more ideas on how to use this amazing caramel, I’m sharing the recipe for my Homemade Salted Caramel Coffee! And as the caramel is dairy-free, you can go on with some vegan milk and coconut whipped cream and make this drink fully dairy-free too!

For many years Starbucks Caramel Macchiato was one of my favorite coffee drinks! I loved to sip this hot, sweet coffee on gloomy mornings and cold, rainy afternoons. There was just something comforting about this. But when I tried this coffee a few days ago, after years of not drinking it, I was disappointed. It was too sweet, too artificial in flavor, and way too expensive!

So here it is – my simple recipe for Homemade Salted Caramel Coffee that truly tastes amazing and has a real caramel flavor. And you can enjoy this delicious drink in the comfort of your home! It’s sweet and salty, with a hint of coconut and chocolate flavors.

I love this coffee and I think you’ll love it too!

What you need

For this recipe, I’m using Delicious Coconut Salted Caramel that I made a few days ago. I do recommend using this caramel as it has this incredible toasted coconut flavor. But of course, you can use any other salted caramel sauce! Just note that the best result will be with the homemade one, as it has a real caramel flavor and that’s what we want here!

You’ll also need:

  1. Some milk – regular, almond, soy, well any you want. I used almond one as I think it has the most neutral flavour.
  2. Coffee! Half a cup of strong black coffee.
  3. Whipped cream to put on top. You can use whipped coconut milk to make it dairy-free.
  4. Dark chocolate – just a bit to sprinkle on top.

That’s it. It’s not complicated at all!

Give it a try and enjoy this beautiful coffee in the comfort of your home.

In all my recipes 1 teaspoon equals 5 ml, 1 tablespoon equals 15 ml, 1 cup equals 250 ml. Spoons and cups are lightly packed.

 ½ cup Black coffee
  cup Milk (eg. almond milk)
 3 tbsp Salted caramel
 Whipped cream
 1 tsp Dark chocolate (grated)

1

Add milk and 2 tablespoons of salted caramel to a small pot. Stir over medium-low heat until well combined and hot. Take out from the heat. Add hot coffee. Mix together, then transfer to the cup.

2

You may want to wait a few minutes until the coffee is still nicely warm but not super hot to put the toppings. This way whipped cream won't melt right away. But it's up to you!

3

Top with whipped cream, caramel, and chocolate.

Notes

For the whipped cream, you can go with ready-to-use one, or make it from scratch. To make whipped cream from scratch, transfer the heavy/whipping cream to a big bowl (100ml would be more totally enough). Add a bit of sugar if you want to have it sweet. Mix on high until thick and creamy. Keep in the fridge until ready to use.

For the dairy-free whipped cream, use coconut milk – just the thick, creamy part. Transfer it to a big bowl. Add a bit of sugar if you want to have it sweet. Mix on high until thick and creamy. Keep in the fridge until ready to use.
