In all my recipes 1 teaspoon equals 5 ml, 1 tablespoon equals 15 ml, 1 cup equals 250 ml. Spoons and cups are lightly packed.

 500 g Potatoes
 1 Egg
 1 tbsp Plain flour
 1 Small onion (finely grated)
 Salt and pepper
 Oil or lard

1

Peel and finely grate potatoes using small holes surface on your grater box. Leave grated potatoes in a bowl without mixing for about 5 minutes.

2

Press potatoes with your hand in the bowl and remove all the juice.

3

Add flour, egg, grated onion, salt, and pepper. Mix together.

4

Heat the pan with lard or oil. There should be enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan. Put the portions of mass (1 full tablespoon) on the hot oil and spread it to create a fairly thin pancake. Fry potato pancakes in batches on medium heat until golden and crispy, flip and fry for 2 minutes more. Add more oil if needed before frying the next batch.

The oil has to hot! If not, potatoes will soak all the oil and will be very greasy.

5

Transfer cooked pancakes onto a plate lined with paper towels.

6

Sprinkle with sea salt and serve, eg. with sour cream and chopped green onions!
