Combine arepa flour and salt in a medium bowl. Add warm water. Using a wooden spoon (or hand) stir until no dry lumps remain. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
Knead dough 2-3 times in the bowl, then divide into 8 pieces.
Form a ball from each piece, then flatten.
Heat oil in a large nonstick pan over medium heat. Add arepas, cover, and cook until golden brown, 6–8 minutes each side.
